In Pax Pamir you take on the role of an influential leader in nineteenth-century Afghanistan. While the great world powers try to expand their influence, you try to use the situation to your own advantage and strengthen your position.
During the game you build up your own court by buying cards from a shared market and playing them. These cards give you new options, bring troops onto the board and open up political opportunities. At the same time they also shift the balance of power between the different coalitions fighting for control of the country.
Coalitions play a central role. You can join a great power when that suits you, but nothing forces you to stay loyal. Sometimes it is wise to switch sides when the political situation changes. Timing and insight are at least as important as the cards you play.
Pax Pamir combines strategy, political influence and direct interaction between players. No situation stays the same for long, and the balance of power can flip completely in just a few turns. A challenging game for players who love tactical choices and a strong historical theme.
