This is the Dutch-language edition. Pick-a-Pen: Riffen is a game from the Pick-a-Pen series by the renowned designer Reiner Knizia and comes with score sheets in 3 increasing levels of difficulty. On score sheets 2 and 3 you will find whirlpools and propellers that can hinder or help you in different ways while you colour in routes.
In this series of games you actually roll pencils. That makes it possible to use many different game mechanisms with the same components. But in every game, colouring in spaces is central. Will you score the most points?
Explore the ocean around a sunken ship and form routes in the same colour to reach treasures, but watch out for treacherous whirlpools! You each have a score sheet of the same level, on which you colour in routes starting from different dive sites.
The start player first rolls all the pencils, each of which has a different colour. Their sides show different symbols. These show how many steps the route you may colour in on your score sheet consists of.
On your turn, you choose a pencil and colour in the matching route. You may only have one route per colour. If you do not have a route in that colour yet, you start one at an empty dive site. Otherwise you have to extend your existing route. The symbol on the pencil shows how many steps you may colour in and whether you have to go straight ahead or may choose freely. If your route reaches treasure chests or coins, you may colour in bonus points on your sheet. The game ends as soon as one of the players has coloured in a certain number of treasures or all of their coins.
