Expert games are the heaviest category of board games. They demand a hefty investment in learning the rules, offer an enormous amount of strategic depth and often last two hours or more. These are games for seasoned players who love complex decisions and long-term planning.
Think of games such as Brass: Birmingham, Spirit Island and Twilight Imperium: titles with a loyal following who pour hundreds of hours into them. The rules take 30 to 60 minutes to explain, but in return every game feels unique.
Expert games are not for everyone, and that is exactly the point. If you are looking for the ultimate challenge and are willing to invest time in learning a game, you will find the best titles here. Not sure whether Expert is the right level? Then have a look at our Enthusiast games too.
