Everyone draws one picture together... and nobody knows what they are drawing.
There's a fake artist hiding among the real artists - can you work out who it is?
The fake artist has to be careful not to be spotted, and the real artists have to be careful not to make it too easy for the impostor.
A Fake Artist Goes To New York is a game for 5 - 10 players. You have to draw and draw conclusions. Trying to work things out while you are drawing is not as easy as you think...!
Here is the game explained in broad strokes:
Everyone tries to draw what the game master has written on their cards, but may draw only one line (if the subject is "cat", you can draw an ear or a whisker, so the others know that you know the subject).
There is one fake artist among the players who does not know the subject and draws a random line.
All players may draw two lines in total and then have to decide who the fake artist is.
If the fake artist gets the most votes, they lose.
If they do not get the most votes, they and the game master win the game.
Now you might think it is very easy to find out who the fake artist is, but there is one more rule.
Even if the fake artist gets the most votes, they can still guess the subject of the drawing everyone made, and win if they guess correctly.
Once you know this rule, it becomes much harder for the real artists to draw their lines, because they want to show the other artists that they know the subject of the picture, but they don't want to be too obvious for the fake artist.
...which turns the picture into a crazy mess!
Everyone is fighting to win the game, and so the picture becomes a mess. Take a look at these examples:
The subject here is "Tomato", but because everyone was confused the picture looks like this. Who do you think is the fake artist here?
Here is the next picture:
The subject for this one was "Zombie" and the fake artist guessed it correctly. What the real artists drew was probably too obvious.
By the way: the game master always tells you the category of the current subject.
The category for "Tomato" could be "Something red". The category for "Zombie" could be "Monster".
The fake artist hears the category too, so if you draw too well, you make it easier for the fake artist to guess the subject in the end.
The player with the green pen was the fake artist in both example pictures.
In the compact box you will find 10 coloured pens, a whiteboard marker, cards and paper!
You can write on the 10 colourful cards with the whiteboard marker as often as you like and then wipe everything off again.
The notepad has 100 pages, and even when you have used it all up, you can simply grab ordinary paper afterwards.
The rules of "A Fake Artist Goes To New York" are easy to understand and the design is beautiful. Give it a try with your friends and family!
